What is Nexium 40 mg used for?

Nexium is a prescription medicine that is used to treat heartburn and acid reflux. Nexium is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of acid in the stomach. Nexium works by reducing the amount of acid that the stomach produces, by opening the digestive system to acid. This allows the stomach to produce more acid than iticults it from food. When heartburn and acid occur, the stomach can be left with the sensation of a tight stomach area. The acid in the stomach can then be absorbed by the cells of the stomach to produce food.
